The Culture of Death

Today at approximately 1:45 pm in Florida, Pinellas Circuit Judge George Greer ordered a feeding tube removed which was keeping a woman named Terri Schiavo alive. Through his order Judge Greer is sanctioning a hideous form of judicial murder. Barring some extra-ordinary intervention from the US Congress, Terri Schiavo will now die from lack of water and food, in a painful process which may extend over four weeks.

If we ever needed confirmation that Western civilization has entered a dark period, this action provides it. Pope John Paul II says this sort of thing occurs because we have embraced a culture of death. Sadly, I must agree with him.
