It may even save a the lives of young people that are gay or questioning their sexuality.

Knowledge sets us free. Look at the stats in the USA. They have sex-ed classes that don't talk about sex! They have the largest percentage of teenage pregnancies, higher STD rates, than any western democracy, it may have something to do with their Conservative "Christian" attitude that if people know something they will do it.rickyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17824176585273550263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9160593.post-1121461681294762672005-07-15T17:08:00.000-04:002005-07-15T17:08:00.000-04:00Kate:Thanks for the heads up. He just finished grade six.

I'll also check with the school Board in the fall. Rest assured if I find that happening, there will be right royal hell to pay.

If there is one thing I have learned over my years as a public servant (from observing it being done to us) it is how to make life misererable for bureaucrats. It's really an art.John the Madhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17899858119936750764noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9160593.post-1121352571768661392005-07-14T10:49:00.000-04:002005-07-14T10:49:00.000-04:00John, the cat is already out of the bag - even in ...John, the cat is already out of the bag - even in the separate school system. When the Last Amazon was in grade six the public health nurse came in to teach sex- ed which I am told is a very common occurence. It is thought that having their everyday teacher teaching it or being in the room would unduly inhibit the children from asking questions. At one point the public health nurse drew diagrams using stick men of the various positions men can assume when two men have sexual relations with each other. When she was asked to show the positions men and women could assume, she refused. That's how come I heard about it. The Last Amazon was outraged and came home ranting about how discrimatory it all was against heterosexuals. You can complain all you want but by the time you know what's being taught and how; the cat is out of the bag.K. And intersting point about homschooling - did you know that the peak of American childhood education (as judged by knowledge of world events, history, mathematics (relative to the day) and literacy all reached their peaks in the late 1700-early 1800s? This was long before the advent of public schools - it was at a time when something like 95% of Americans were HOMESCHOOLED.

Thanks for the hat tip. It is freaky how things are going. And yes, we will be homeschooling our boys.Oliverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12202065783944648286noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9160593.post-1121316578810974302005-07-14T00:49:00.000-04:002005-07-14T00:49:00.000-04:00At what point during our 25 year nap, did the watc...At what point during our 25 year nap, did the watchman fall asleep and fail to rouse us. Now, parental rights have been/are being kidnapped by the state.

Here in the Lower 48, the reaction to the new order (odor{?} - do I smell Moonbats coming in their pirogues?) is a movement toward home schooling. This aggravates the snot out of professional educators/administrators, because public schools often receive their funding based on enrollment figures.

I see home schooling as the only legitimate way to reclaim the system of 'public education' so that the children are actually educated!

Kermit the GreenKermithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15925873650354234996noreply@blogger.com
